Woo Hoo! I'm so excited to have an updated sewing machine. I have been sewing on a Viking 6460 for too many years to tell. But now I have a machine that has all the features that I've wanted for so lo..

Looking at a Viking Lily as not really interested in embroidery but want decorative stitches & alphabet very important. Saw that Lily got good reviews but wondering what to offer for it today? Just the machine, pedal, and power cord. Looking at several used-some come with bobbins, one from dealer but no warranty-taking offers-what's a reasonable offer. Can just buy for $550.

If there's no embroidery unit and lettering memory card you won't be able to do lettering larger than 7mm. Without warraty even $550 sounds high.------

I had a Lily 550 and it was one of my favorite machines. The lettering it does is very small, suitable for labels and such. It has something called pictograms which are very small embroidery shapes that you can put together to make designs. I also love the 7 buttonholes. The msrp on this machine was $1800.00. I sold mine about 4 years ago for $500.00.Skill: Intermediate
If you are buying a used one, make sure it has the manual, and it comes with all the feet, especially the buttonhole sensor foot. (which is very expensive). The Lily also came in the 540 and 530 models. Viking also had the later models, Lily 555,545,and 535.
The Viking series that replaced the Lily was the Platinum, which came in 4 models.

I sold my viking 500 for $250 a couple of years ago. It is like the Lily but without the embroidery unit. Mine had the manual and lots of feet too.

$250 sounds about right. If you are getting this from a dealer, it's different than a private sale. They usually mark them up a bit as they are a business that has to make money. I can see a dealer charging $550 for a Lily. They've probably serviced it too.

And the dealer has probably gone over the motherboard.. they go out in Lily's. Ask if he looked the motherboard over & if he replaced it. If he did, 500 is fine.

I had a Lily 555 which I loved . until a motor died and my dealer had trouble getting the part from Viking. I wound up replacing it with another brand. It was a great machine, though, and I miss it!
I too think $550 is way high, especially for a 500 which would be older than the 555. Around $250 sounds right. Definitely check on which feet are included -- the sensor foot is major $$, but all Viking feet are expensive! I loved the walking foot, but it was pricey, so if it's included that would be a plus.
I would also suggest (if possible) finding out the maintenance & repair history.
